In accordance with Article 23 of the Law on the organization and operation of the state administration bodies (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No 59/2000 from 21.07.2000)

1. The Ministry of Education and Science conducts affairs related to:
   • education and teaching of all types and levels;
   • organization, financing, development, and improvement of teaching, education and science;
   • teaching and education of the children of Macedonian workers temporally living and working abroad;
   • verification of the occupations and profiles in education;
   • pupils’ and students’ standard;
   • technological development, information science and technical culture;
   • information technology system;
   • international scientific and technical cooperation;
   • supervision in the domain of its competence, and
   • other affairs defined by law.
2. Within the Ministry of Education and science are the following bodies:
   • Pedagogical Service;
   • Bureau for Development of Education;
   • Department for development and improvement of the education in the languages of ethnic minorities, and
   • State Education Inspectorate.
3. The Bureau for Development of Education has the capacity of a legal entity.
